I’ve seen iamnotbatman in only two threads, but this relatively new poster is definitely a bright and shining star in the constellation “Tumidus the Douchebag.”

So… are you building a case against me, or is that it?
Let me start you off. Here are two of my posts from that thread that explain my position:
You, on the other hand, only offered one-line insults. Pseudo-intellectualism, to me, is terse smugness in the face of attempts to actually explain one’s position intellectually. It is exemplified by your own posts in that thread.
This is already a very boring pit thread.
He thinks he’s smart, you think he’s a snob.
But I must say, Citizen Cane could have done with more explosions and gunfire. That may have kept it from being so boring.
Offtopic, but you’re still using the “boardtest” boards? I noticed this when I followed your link and it logged me out.
yeup. pseudo intellectual.
And when someone pompously blathers on about how intellectual they are but can’t bother to correctly spell the name of the art they’re trying to reference (It’s “Citizen Kane”, you moron) it irritates me.
Spelling? Really?? OK, so I’m not so insecure that I spell-check every post I make. I think I do OK, for a moron.
that’s not a spell checking issue. that’s a retard issue.
I really like iamnotbatman. But then, I am known to be easily dazzled by pseudo intellectuals.
I’ve only come across his/her posts in ATMB. S/He seems like a tamer version of BigT, always trying to explain and analyze everyone’s posts…like someone appointed him/her the spokesperson for the thread. Mostly I’m talking about the last few pages of this thread, where it seems to be notbatman every other post trying to diffuse the situation.
Yes, you do.
I prefer Citizen Caine
There’s nothing wrong with appreciating the (so-called) finer things in life. IMHO, it’s when you take that step of judgmentally looking down on and sneering at those who don’t that you turn into a douchebag. And yes, that includes being “irritated” with them. That attitude cannot exist without an implied feeling of “I am better than you because I like better things than you do”.
I thoroughly enjoy Citizen Kane and Shakespeare and other things I can’t be bothered to list right now. I have many friends and relatives that do not. They are still good people - every bit as good as me, if not better. I have learned a lot from them about various aspects of life, and I respect all of them.
If there is a mark of someone who is more “enlightened”, or however you want to phrase it, I suspect it involves a certain level of humility and respect for those around them, regardless of circumstance or other shallow measures.
ETA: This ended up being far more serious than I intended. I also like boobs.
I prefer Citizen 'Caine.
If there isn’t an S&M Porno spoof called Citizen Cane there damn well should be.
I prefer The Kane Mutiny, the one where Orson Bean kept clicking together two tiny sleds in his hand.
Why do I have the feeling that “Rosebud” ain’t gonna be a sled?
The video game sequel Legacy of Kane completes a lot of the unanswered questions from the movie.
Wait wait wait, we’re not talking about Charles Cain ?
“Encomiums”? He sure has a big vocabulary for someone from New Jersey!
