Why do the British call it Ibetha? Or is that something else?
Spanish island = British attempt at Spanish pronunciation.
The Spanish seem happy enough.
has anyone here been to Ibiza? I kinda want to go since hearing the Richie Hawtin/Sven Vath CD based on their experiences spinning at a club there(Cocoon I think).
In the Castillian dialect of Spanish, the βsβ (alveolar fricative) sound is pronounced as a βthβ (interdental fricative). Hence, Ibitha.
Thi Thenyor.
Thanks for explaining! I had never understood it.
