Iceland's SDMB World Record Attempt Thread

It’s coming up to Christmastime and lots of Christmas cards will be arriving soon. I love mail especially nice letters and not bills or library book reminders and would love to get as many letters as possible. The record is about 300,000 letters in a year, but as that works out at 10,000 a day,it might be a bit overoptimistic. However with 50,000 Dopers we may be able to do it-just six letters a year should be enough(that’s not counting all my usual letters). If you’d like to help, please let me know. You can be part of a world record and brighten up someone’s life so that when the doorbell goes, there will be a delightful flurry of letters waiting!

Okay…spill it; what did your mail person do to you?

Of course…we actually only have about 4200 active members. That’s a lotta postage for each Doper.

It’s a bit closer to 1000/day (822, to be semi-pedantic).

Considering the USPS doles out mail by the foot to carriers, the mail carrier would probably love this; it may mean one address for the whole day! One of my friends got the job recently & he loves it when people get a ton of mail; cuts down on his walk.

Nothing. Some days there’s nothing there.Other days its a boring little tax bill.
OK 4,000 members…400,000 letters…that’s 100 letters a year…2 a week. You can manage that shurely

I think Shirley is a little busy with the 2004 SDMB Secret Santa, but maybe she can join next year.

[Shameless Attention Whoring]
Won’t somebody please think of the Postal Carriers?!

Carry on.

What if we forwarded AOL Trial discs, coupon mailers, political ads, mail for “resident”, and things like that as well? Would that count?

Well, you can count me out, so that bumps everyone else’s average up a bit.
