Excuse me, but doesn’t this sound like it could have been recorded in 1975?
LOVE it, though…and I’ll be 50 in two months. I was air-guitarin’ like a madwoman, turn it UP!

That late? Jack White tends to like his equipment from the '60s…
I definitely prefer Icky Thump to Get Behind Me Satan (“Co-ooo-oonnnn-QUEEEESSSST!”), but they’ve yet to top White Blood Cells in my book.
(Then again, I haven’t hit 45+ yet. Take my comments with a grain of youth.)
I love it too!!!
But then, my memories of growing up in the 70’s are falsely-implanted and I’m really only 28.
Haven’t heard it, but clearly Elephant and White Blood Cells sounds that way. I think all their stuff is done live in the studio, which pretty much died out by the late 60s.
It makes for a good sound though; the lack of perfection is a good thing.
And I’m well above 45.
I like the song, Jack White is a riff monster on par with Jimmy Page and Joe Perry when it comes to awesome hooky major scale riffs, and Icky Thump has a classic, but that part where he starts banging a bundle of cats into that thing from the Del Shannon song Runaway? Not so much. I know it’s a new toy Jack, but dial it back a little. Brevity is the soul of wit, and the same goes for odd guitar effects too.
