ID a British TV show from the eighties

There was a British TV show from in the early to mid eighties and for which I remember only the vaguest of details, and I have been curious for a while now as to what the series was called. I searched Wikipedia, which has a list of all British TV series, but either the show is not listed there or I have missed it since the list is so long.

Here is the little information I remember
[ul]
[li]It aired in the early to mid eighties[/li][li]It was set in earlier times, I believe, though I don’t know exactly what the period was.[/li][li]It involved a vicar/priest/pastor or some other type of religious official[/li][li]The above guy was married (which I guess limits the type of religious official he could have been)[/li][li]His wife had a sister[/li][li]When his wife was pregnant, he “convinced” his wife and her sister that he should have sex with the sister, since he wasn’t getting any from his pregnant wife.[/li][/ul]

Do any Dopers know what the show was called?

Hopefully some Brit Dopers can identify it.

It’s a bit of a long shot, and doesn’t quite square with the details that you’ve outlined, but are you perhaps thinking of the television series Poldark, based on the series of novels by Winston Graham?

Later in the series there is a character called the Reverend Osborne Whitworth. He’s a rather sleazy Anglican minister, married to a woman called Morwenna Chynoweth. She has been forced into this marriage against her will, and loathes her husband. When she becomes pregnant Whitworth begins a torrid affair with his wife’s younger sister Rowella Chynoweth. However, this isn’t done with the agreement of his wife. She knows nothing of the affair.

This is it!

I love the Dope
