Can’t remember the time frame (early '80s, perhaps), but the show was about a single-mother businesswoman, her young daughter and their butler. Haven’t a clue as to any of the actors involved (or I’d be looking them up on IMDb). Three scenes that I remember:
-
Butler-to-be is applying for the job. One of the reasons he was interested was because the ad said he’d be working for an English major. She meant college; he took at as being a Brit army officer.
-
Discussion of dinner, including tacos. Butler remembers seeing something called “taco shells” at the store; “I assumed it was some kind of escargot…”
-
Daughter is having a pyjama party; mother is going out (work?), leaving the butler to babysit. Mother is very dubious of his plan to serve pate to the girls. For some reason there is discussion of a bottle of amaretto in the early part of the show. Mother returns home expecting wild children and frazzled butler; instead, the children are asleep and all is peace and quiet. Butler: “I put the rest of the amaretto in the pate…”
Anybody recognise this?
