ID a song for me?

I’ve had a song running through my head for a couple of hours now, and I can’t figure out what it’s from. I can only remember 4 notes, so it might be kind of hard.

It’s from a musical, it’s a man and woman singing a love song in harmony, and it’s in 3/4. The woman sings “'Til then, 'til then…” with the tils on the dominant note and the thens on the tonic. The man harmonizes with what might be thirds or sixths. They sing about when they can finally be together, or something like that.

Any guesses?

That would be from 1776. I think it’s call “Till then.” It relates the letters John and Abigail Adams.

Also its purty.
“Till then, Till then,
I am, as I ever was,
and ever shall be:
Yours, Yours, Yours Yours, Yours.
Salt peater, John
Pins, Abigail”

1776

The song is how the characters of Abigail and John Adams sign their letters to each other, and is repeated once or twice: “Till then, till then, I am – as I ever was, and ever shall be – yours, yours, yours, yours, yours.”

(On preview: darnit, Ezekiel25:17! I’m postin’ anyway! But the “salt peter/pins” part is only sung once, IIRC.)

You’re right, of course, but thats the one that always gets stuck in my head. I had to type it to keep out.

Uh oh.

Didn’t work.

That’s it! Thank you!
