ID a song from the film 'Gizmo'

I enjoyed the ca. 1981 film Gizmo – in fact, I wouldn’t mind a thread on it. (Hijacking encouraged). It was a series of film clips going back to the beginning of film. The clips showed inventions – not just physical devices, but feats of strength and agility. One minute, you’re laughing at a pathetic failure, the next marveling at someone’s ingenuity or skill. An enjoyable little film.

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify a song from it:

It may have been entitled ‘High’ – the lyrics repeated the word ‘high’ (it was shown during a section on human flies). It sounded like early Randy Newman, but I can’t seem to find anything by him that sounds like it.

Ring a bell, anyone?

I didn’t know the song, but love the movie. You were dead on the money with the name though. IMDB lists the song as “High” by Bruce Roberts.

Great thing about the movie. Despite it being made more than 25 years ago, it’ll always be fresh.

I can watch that guy with the wings on his arms jump off a rock and crash-and-burn all day long.

Thanks for the info Max.

I love that scene – my favorite part is when the very un-aerodynamic lady falls over trying to demo the wings, before realizing that she can persuade the young guy to do it.

I don’t remember what his trick was (was it being able to breath out his ear?!) but I always loved the way the Indian guru guy mixes up his English and says how you should, “Keep out the oxygen and breath in the monoxides!”
