I remember reading this story as a kid, I believe it was part of a book of stories but I’m not sure. The story was about 2 kids, probably Ice Age or thereabouts, who are trapped in a cave during a snowstorm, probably an avalanche that covers the opening. There’s little to no light available, and the kids survive on finding dried corn and wheat. One thing that I clearly remember is when they’re rescued, they see a hand holding a wooden bowl poking through the snow and scooping it away.
