That’s probably the case. Currently being on a grand jury, I can tell you these things sometimes take time. Hell, we just dealt with a case* in which the actual crime was commited in 2003!
No one was harmed during the commission of the crime (and of course I can’t tell ya more than that so don’t ask).
Nope. It’s been a full week now since I filled out the forgery affidavit, and ten days since the initial police report. The last time an officer called me was Thursday.
I don’t know if they’re dragging their feet or if it really does take this long. If it’s the latter, the least they could do is give me an update.
Also, I haven’t heard a sound come from Dave’s room since Sunday night. No idea if he skipped town, is at someone else’s house, or if the police simply picked him up from work yesterday, though everything they said indicated that they’d be making the arrest here.
I can understand your frustration, Neutron Star. I’ve been robbed before and the robber seemingly got off with what I consider, little punishment. (long story, another time)
But a similar thing happened to a cousin of mine. His own sister who I have thought for YEARS was the scum of the earth, wrote checks to herself with his checkbook. Now, this cousin, I’ll call him Clucky, 'cuz that was his nickname, was on disability. He didn’t have much money in the first place. He basically lived hand to mouth most of the time. His sister (Hell, I’ll call her Scumbella) had a history of being a scummy, worthless, dishonest bitch ever since I was a child. She’s at least ten years older than I am…at one point during my college years my mother had to intervene to keep me from skinning her alive. (and i’m actually still pissed at her for that incident…Scumbella, not my late mother…because it was well, scummy and dishonest)
Clucky from what I know declined to press charges. I guess for whatever reason the bank couldn’t without him even though she committed fruad. I was in Europe at the time but when I heard about it through relatives I was freakin’ pissed.
The worst part? If she needed what little money she stole from Clucky that badly there were relatives that would have helped her out, including her own daughter. Scummy bitch.
So I hope the cops get this Dave guy soon. I mean, if he doesn’t have to pay for what he did, whats the point in the law anyway. He stole from you! Personally it would take all of my will power not to beat him to death. You’re a better man than I, Neutron Star.
I agree with Engineer Dude. Pass the torches! Because every peasant mob has to be carrying pitchforks and torches. (Just make sure we light the correct ones.)
Seriously, this story needs closure. I hope the cops get nudged by the bank really freaking soon.
My shoes are on and I’m out the door,so I am ready. Fuck! I can’t believe that I work two stinkin’ jobs and barely have time to get on and read this thread, YET Dave is allowed to commit crimes and walk about freely.
Ok, I know that might not seem to make sense but to me it does.
Seriously, these cops are not making me believe that most of us are doing the right thing in this world!
Ok, I know we are, I’m just having kind of a shitty day and I hate seeing scum like Dave get away with shit!
Ok, this is seriously pissing me off. What is going on with those cops?! Am I going to have to come down there? I agree- why am I over here working my ass off for some money like a chump when apparently you can just steal it from people and nobody cares. Call them! And then call us back and tell us what they said! Or, post us back- whatever.
And what’s the deal with that found wallet thread, anyway? It’s much too long for me to start reading it now… synopsis, anyone?
