I am a pacifist liberal/progressive by nature, and have a wide range of like-minded sites on the internet to read daily. I learn a great deal by those with opposing views on the SD, and appreciate the intelligence here.
I’m going to do a personal experiment, and only read the webpages/blogs/commentators of Conservative sites for a week, and see how that affects my political viewpoint. I’m asking for intelligent, incisive commentary, not inflammatory monologue. I would appreciate Conservatives here directing me to the best of that thought, so I can understand it better.
Also, please, no snarky comments about why I want to understand that: I want to better understand a different frame of mind intelligently, so I can discuss political matters with a greater depth.
I don’t think that’s what he meant. I think he meant “Reputable” and not “batshit loony”, in which case he could go to www.ar15.com(where liberal=communist=athiest=homosexual=NAMBLA).
I agree with everything Sam Stone said. My favorite single columnist is Thomas Sowell. If you find anything he says that you disagree with let us know. I’ve linked to his archive below: Thomas Sowell
You might want to glance at some of the other columnists at townhall.com. I generally like Mike Adams.
Also the links at instapundit.com will take you to pretty much everything else. Which reminds me, my wife loves Ann Althouse’s blog.
I wouldn’t call myself a Conservative, but there’s RedState which has a style close to Daily Kos, and Samizdata, though the latter is U.K. oriented. Another one is The Other Side of Kim, Kim du Toit’s new blog.
Thanks much for the replies, greatly appreciate it.
In thinking about how this country has been so sadly polarized and divided in view, and saddened by that, I feel that one constructive thing I can try to do is to understand the opposing viewpoints with a greater depth, in order to have rational discussion.
