Lumpy:
You’re probably thinking of the aformentioned Angels and Insects.

I’m not sure- the IMDb link doesn’t really give a lot of information about the plot, and I would have sworn that the movie I’m thinking of was set in modern times (although given the tenuousness of my recollection, I wouldn’t guarantee that).
SCREEN TWO: CLOSE RELATIONS (1990)
Screen Two is Series of filmed dramas shown on BBC2.
It’s close to what you’re saying but I can’t find much more to the plot, it might not even be about incest.
Maybe you’ll have more luck at the site or the name will pop out at your from the list on movies Screen Two made.
When I say series, I didn’t mean an ongoing episodic show with recurring characters, but a set of self-contained stories under an umbrella title. Quite common with UK TV.
Well aren’t I a genius. There’s the link. Good luck.
In case this would help your search, this film was called Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, and it did indeed air on A&E.
You are the best! This is it! Many, many thanks.
And here’s the rub - it’s in IMDB but with no plot info!
Appears you were right - over here we would refer to it as an anthology.
Holy crap! My Google Fu worked. Actually Google only got me to the British Film Institute in a search for “incest in film” which linked to some commentary on a documentary about incest. It seemed like BFI knew what they were doing and a BFI database search for brother plus funeral called that up.
Fern Forest - you deserve a big round of applause. I’ve been trying to recall this movie for years. It was actually the topic of one of my first threads when I joined up - to no avail of course!
Simply amazing.
Well, thank God. I spent about 45 minutes on Google myself the other day trying to find the answer to this damn question. Fern Forest: I salute you!
Bah.
I read the OP, and I thought at once, “Oh, yes, I remember that, it was that thing with James Hazeldine, wasn’t it?”
But I see someone’s got to it already.
Bah again. I must try harder.
Glad to be a service. I know what a load it is to get stuff like that off your chest. Both the dope and newsgroups have saved me from sheer madness a few times trying to recall things I’ve forgotten.
Plus the BFi site is good, I’ll have to save that. Also it might have been altavista that found the site and allowed me to pip Steve Wright.
Cue the Muttley sound effect.
