ID this Ikea cutlery, and help me find it!

Do Ikea have any sort of historical info available anywhere? Couldn’t find it, only lists of current products.

I’m deperately trying to find a particular Ikea cutlery set for my partner’s birthday (trust me, she’ll love it!).

We don’t know the Ikea-name, so let me describe it: it comes on a stand with four arms, one each for 6 or 8 knives, forks, spoons, and teaspoons. The cutlery itself is plain stainless, with handles which are effectively wire loops.

A Google search finds my own post on the eBay “Want it now” site as the first hit

Any help gratefully received! Thanks folks.

If I’m understanding your discription, I believe I saw that or something very similar in Crate and Barrel a few weeks ago.

I believe you are talking about this? Not dissimilar, but on the ones I want the entire handle of each piece is a loop, and quite flat. Also, they are not shiny and chromey like those, but more of a satin finish. The stand is a single central round pillar with four arms coming out at right-angles to each other.

I do specifically want the Ikea ones, to top up an existing set which has a few missing pieces. But thanks very much for responding!

I’ve been pointed to this site as being someone who collects Ikea catalogs, but as I don’t read Swedish that’s going to be a problem; nor does Babelfish or any other site I can find handle Swedish.

Hmmm, this is even harder than I thought! I don’t suppose anyone here has any contacts inside Ikea?

Have you checked the Ikea site? You can also order a catalog from there too, if you don’t see it on the site itself.

Hope this helps.

I did look through the Australian, US, and Swedish Ikea sites before posting. AFAICS they do not have any info except about current products. This cultery set is from maybe 8-10 years ago.

Interestingly the Crate and Barrel site mentioned above does show items that are no longer stocked, but I couldn’t find any equivalent site for Ikea.

This is why I was asking about historical info; I figured there would have to be amateur Ikea archivists out there and that there must be a Doper who knows about one!

Thanks for responding!

Have you tried this site? They specialize in patterns that have been discontinued.

That’s *exactly *the kind of site I was looking for! I knew The Dope would come through for me, thanks a lot!

They have a pattern there that does seem to be the one I want, although the photo isn’t very good and in any case they don’t actually have it in stock. But at least I registered myself there so if it comes in I’ll know.

I’m also getting photos of the pattern which I’ll post here in a day or two.
