It’s an animated movie. It appears to be Japanese.
The recap talked about a young woman who had been living isolated in her apartment for three years, not seeing anyone in person. But she had an online boyfriend. And then she found out her boyfriend lived in the apartment below hers and was aware she lived just above him.
Japanese-style but I could also see what appeared to be Japanese written text. That said, I don’t read Japanese so the text I saw could have been Chinese or Korean.
The recap I saw made the movie seem like a comedy/romance.
I have a different movie I’d like to ID. (I clicked on this thread thinking it might be a generic thread for such queries. Mods: please transfer to better thread if appropriate.)
This is a British movie from circa 1999 (very approx); my synopsis might not be fully accurate. A journalist wants to write an article about single women who are hard-driving businesswomen. His friend advises something like “Start with an individual and you end up with a type. Start with a type and you end up with nothing.”
(or some similar paraphrase of a quote by F.S. Fitzgerald)
So the guy picks a woman, breaks into her apartment, needs to hide in the closet overnight when she returns. While in the closet he observes her secret behavior: For example she gorges herself (on chocolate cake and/or steak?) then deliberately vomits. At the end of the movie he seeks her out, but she recognizes him as the intruder from the brand of cigarettes he smokes.
My “need” to ID this movie was minimal before but, because I posted, might turn into an obsession. But I think it was a badly-received film and my chances of finding it are small.
I think I’d immediately recognize the film’s title, so I should be the searcher. I did skim through many dozens in Wikipedia’s British movie lists but to no avail.
