Many years ago, my mother had a print of a cubist “Crown of Thorns” painting hanging up in the house, as early as around 1965. She’s gone and so is the print. I always assumed it was a famous one by Picasso or someone in his orbit; it was a dozen or so vertical stripes, red brown and black, kind of hinting at Jesus’s face, with hashmarks indicating a crown of thorns. I couldn’t find it online with the obvious search terms, so I wonder if any of the Teeming Millions are familiar with this painting from this description?
There was also one of Moses on Mt. Sinai, indicated mostly with abstract-y earth tone swirls,vaguely reminiscent of Dali. I’m assuming both of these were by famous artists, but have never run across them anywhere else.
