Id this person, possibly a politician. (1966, comments on race relations)

Here is a snippet from the recent doc Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America. If you can’t access the video, this is some footage from 1966 of a person is saying “The problem is that the nigro in this country today stands for veneral disease, prostitution, the numbers racket, and crime.”

“South Englewood” and “71st Street” are written on the blackboard behind the man. That would seem to indicate it’s being filmed in Chicago.

Furthermore, I suspect that this TV clip took place in 1966, not too long before the so-called “summit conference” between Mayor Daley and Martin Luther King that prevented the march on Cicero (or at least reduced it to a small group).

I just saw the clip and I think (although I’m not 100% sure) that’s George Lincoln Rockwell, the 1960s neo-Nazi leader. In 1966, Rockwell was in Chicago to lead a counter-demonstration against Martin Luther King’s civil rights march on Cicero which would explain the Chicago-area streets written on the blackboard.

Here’s a picture of Rockwell:

It does look a lot like the man in the TV clip.

I hate Illinois Nazis.

Yeah, that’s Rockwell.

Here’s another clip of him from the CBC show This Hour Has Seven Days, in 1964

Thanks, all.

And that ties into the doc pretty well, as “Soul Train” started in Chicago.

Hmmm, I’m not convinced they’re the same guy. Even ignoring the obviously different hairlines & face shapes (both of which could conceivably change in two years), their ears, lips & eyes don’t match either.

Here’s a side-by-side pair of still shots.

I dunno. Seems to me for these men to be the same guy, Rockwell would’ve had to gain significant weight (possible if he gave up smoking that dumbass pipe), developed more of a widow’s peak, pushed his ears out so they’re no longer flat against his head, got surgery to widen his eyes and lift his brow, and injected collagen into his lips.

That clip is dated 1966. I have found this clip also dated 1966 that positively identifies Rockwell. The guy in the OP’s clip does not seem to be the same.

OTOH, in this photo, the bodyguard on Rockwell’s left looks like the guy in the clip. This photo was taken in 1961. No idea who it is, but I’ve pretty much determined that it’s not Matthias Koehl (his second-in-command at the time of his assassination). Nor is it William Luther Pierce (that seems to be the fella on Rockwell’s right).

I can’t ID the man, but it really doesn’t look like Rockwell.

Not even close to Rockwell. Doesn’t even sound like him. Rockwell’s voice deeper.

best wishes,
hh
