ID this scene for me (from a comic book?)

I remember seeing this scene. I’m around 90% certain it was in a comic book but I might be wrong.

One of the characters had traveled back in time from a few years in the future to give the main cast an important message.

While they were walking through the headquarters, they encounter one of the regular characters. The time traveler from the future is obviously stunned to see this character and becomes very emotional. They have to run away as they break into tears.

The character then made a sarcastic joke about how ominous the implications of this encounter are.

Superhero stuff?
Or sci fi only?

I don’t remember.

Definitely a familiar scene…seems very soapy… makes me think Claremont X-men. Like Rachel Summers coming back in time.

The details aren’t the same, but there’s a very similar scene in Uncanny X-Men #141 (the first issue of the 2-part “Days of Future Past” storyline). The adult Kate Pryde, from a dystopian future where mutants have been all but wiped out, with only a few surviving, travels back in time, not physically but psychically. Her mind is transferred into the body of her 13-year-old self, then known as Kitty Pryde.

Kitty, at the time, was very new to the X-Men, and was scared of Nightcrawler, who basically looks like a demon. When Kate, in Kitty’s body, sees him, she immediately embraces him because in her time, he’s dead. Since she’s normally afraid of him, this of course takes him aback.

My husband’s got this one.

"Almost for sure they are talking about this specific panel from New Mutants (Vol 1) # 18:

First link is the image. The second link is the second page of the biography. Rachel Summers (aka Prestige, aka Phoenix) came back from the Days of Future Past timeline (in a story following up on the original storyline). She was shocked to see Illyana Rasputin (aka Magik) as an adolescent because in Rachel’s timeline Illyana was a child. In the main 616 continuity, Illyana had artificially aged up eight(?) years due to spending her childhood in Limbo."

I suspected this was Days of Future Past related so I kicked it his way.

I don’t feel it was an X-Men comic book. I’m not ruling out New Mutants. But it’s not one of the scenes that have been described.

Or it might have been Gen 13 or Justice League International or Elementals. Or some other series that I’ve forgotten I used to read.
