I just had an idea. Kick me senseless if it is a stupid idea. Here it is.

How about everyone (or anyone who feels like it) starts a thread in MPSIMS with their name as the title. In it they post their general miscelaneous thoughts throughout the day. Sort of like a diary thread.

It might be an interesting thing to read…

You would not have to post a new thread every time you have a mundane pointless thing you want to share, because the ‘your name’ thread would encompas it.

It might be an interesting thing for other dopers to read.

etc, blah blah and stuff

In that case you should’ve combined this thread with your “Cheeseburger” thread and titled it “Lobsang.”

Unless somebody else posted on your name-thread, it would never be on the first page for you. If you’re the last poster, the software puts lots of other threads ahead of it.

I you’re as vain as me - you want people to read your mundane and pointless thoughts. Do people look at other people’s livejournals?
Lola - I posted the cheesburger thread before I had this idea. It was that thread that sparked the idea.

Oh great. Then I’d have to trawl through hundreds of threads every day, having no idea whether the poster is actually posting something I’m interested in.

Include me out of this idea.

For some reason, I like this syntax.

As for the OP, part of the beauty of the Dope is people’s interaction with your ideas, thoughts, opinions, facts… That journal type thread would be the opposite of why I enjoy Dope.

Heh, heh, I enjoy dope. Haven’t said that since high school.

That would mean I’d have to have an idea every single day. I’m just not up to the challenge.

This really would make MPSIMS harder to wade through. I think most of us rely on thread titles to figure out if it’s a topic we want to read or not. And as NCB points out, it’s the interaction.

Consider yourself officially booted in the arse. This is idea is more than merely stupid. It borders on the preposterous. As porcupine has said, but not as crankily, get a goddamned live journal if you wanna make the daily events and thoughts of your life public.

I’m locking this thread, and if I see anything, from anyone, along the lines of what you have suggested, I’ll delete it. And I want you to think for just a moment about what this forum would look like with even just a few hundred threads like your idea. Nobody would ever find anything in here.

Besides which, what in hell makes you think the mods wanna read the details of the lives of each and every one of the members here? See? Preposterous.
