Ideas For a Bluetooth-Capable MP3 Player (Non-Apple)?

For those of you who have (or have had) a non-iPod bluetooth-capable MP3 player, which brand/model do you recommend?

I currently have an older iRiver Clix Gen 2, but the lack of bluetooth means I’m still hasseled by my headphone cable doing its best to get wrapped around every stick or yard tool in sight when I’m working outside. I’ve considered the bluetooth adaptors which fit into the 3.5" jack, but the majority of them are too bulky; I’d prefer to get a new player with built-in bluetooth.

So, if you have a non-iPod MP3 player with built-in bluetooth, what are your experiences with it?

In the meantime, have you thought about threading the cord under your shirt?

I tried that several times back when I kept the player clipped to my belt, but the cord was never long enough; I was always jerking the buds out of my ears whenever I stretched or twisted my head. Now that the player is usually attached to my arm, that’s not a bad idea; threading it through my sleeve should give the cord enough play so that I don’t yank the headphones off (or out, depending on which I use).

I’m still interested in a bluetooth player, but that’s a great workaround. Thanks!

Bumpity-bump-bump-bump.

The problem is, is that there just isn’t much out there. There’s the Galaxy S Player by Samsung, basically it’s like their Fascinate or Captivate phones, but without the phone part (they run Android OS.) But they might be too expensive for you, since they are also designed to do other Android things like play games, email, web browse, etc…

Thanks, bouv. I actually have an Epic, so I’ll probably avoid the Galaxy players on the basis that they’re really too large (IMO) for a walkabout music player. They’re good devices, but the 4" size seems pretty large when strapped to my arm.

I know that Archos makes a bluetooth player, Sony has in the past, iRiver had the Spinn (although, frankly, iRiver’s support always lacks), and Creative had a model or two as well; I just didn’t know if anyone here ever owned one. Oh, and Cowan made one or two models.

I’d prefer one with physical buttons so that I can use it during the winter without having to buy gloves with capacitive tips, but I know those ancient creatures are slowly dying out.

The price point isn’t an issue, but all the same I’ll probably avoid any diamond-encrusted players. This year at least.
