Ideas for a new Star Trek series

If you are just going to fuss about how bad Voyager or the new movie was, or how good B5 or Star Wars are, please post elsewhere.

I’d like to see a conflict with minor characters interacting. They could be killed off with impunity, giving some interest.
Perhaps the Federation war with the Klingons or Cardassians, or the Maquis.
Each episode would feature a particular species; humans one week, then Cardassians, Romulans, Klingons, the Maquis.
For example, a Maquis crew a’la Firefly, could steal something from the Romulans, have to sneak past Federation ships, and deliver their cargo to the Klingons.

What are your ideas?

For some reason I suddenly had this image of a bunch of Borg chasing some Federation redshirts in circles.

In stop motion.
To Yakkity Sax.

Real Housewives of StarFleet

**Survivor: Rura Penthe

Cardassian Idol**

And, once again, I will raise the flag for panda: Red Shirt Diaries

I’d like to see Captain Sulu’s adventures on the Excelsior, with a new actor as Sulu…maybe a cameo with Takei as Sulu’s father in the pilot…

As long as there’s a hot babe in a skin-tight bodysuit, I’ll watch!

(T’pol!..droool…Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01…droool)

Animated series. Aimed at kids. Let the people who do MLP:FIM do it. They are obviously Trek fans and are very good at what they do.

An all female crew. Star Fleet Ladies Auxiliary in Space. Group showers. Pillow fights on the holodeck. :stuck_out_tongue:

Voyager retold with no pulled punches, a desperate tale of survival and compromise every day. I want a Janeway who must muddle through morally dubious situations, I want to see the hard decisions and rationalizing.

And if the finale can involve harsh judgement by Starfleet and a screaming rebuttel by the captain and crew all the better.

I believe that’s been done before, though with what degree of success is debatable. I’m working my way through them now, actually. Gives you a real appreciation for the regular shows.

Star Trek: Academy

I suggested that many years ago and was laughed at as no one wanted to see “Grange Hill in Space”

Um, okaay, not quite what I had in mind…

My other thought would be to follow on from Star Trek First Contact, and see what happened in the Trekverse before Archer and co.

I can’t think of a single episode in any of the series that I’ve watched, which includes scenes at the Academy, that weren’t amazingly lame. Even DS9 still presented it as the land of annoying boyscouts who (for stupid plot reasons) are always doing at least one unethical, yet boring thing.

Doesn’t Sulu have a daughter? Why not her as Captain?

Because Sulu himself was the captain of the Excelsior according to cannon. I want to see his story after leaving Kirk and the Enterprise.

yeah but, except for that one episode in TNG when Wesley and his friends cover up killing one of their other friends, how many times is it talked about, or scenes are set there? Out of all the series, from TOS to Enterprise? Not a whole lot. And it can’t be all “annoying boyscouts” that go to the academy. There’s bound be a truckload of assholes and racists there too. Sorry, speciesist (is that a word?). Even in an utopian future like Star Trek, surely there would be.
And what I was thinking was that while the main cast would be cadets, a lot of the supporting characters would be non-starfleet Federation citizens, and a lot of action taking place outside of the academy. In bars and pool halls and movie theaters and restaurants. All kinds of stuff, showing the little dramas of everyday life. How all the cool space opera stuff, galactic wars etc. that the Enterprise gets up affect regular citizens back on Earth.

That was my idea at least.

I’d like to see a series focused on one of the alien races instead of the boring, predictable human Federation and their highfalutin boy scout morals.

I’d like to see Enterprise as it should have been done, in which the war with the Romulans starts by the fourth episode at the latest. No, make that the third.

Oh yeah, and how about the Prime Directive’s origin making sense this time?

I should have said a new animated series. I have the complete animated series on dvd.

How about “Welcome Back Spock”. Spock returns to the academy to teach as the level of recruits are so bad and the academy has seen better days. You still get Hotsie Totsie.

Seconded. I was thinking specifically of a series that focused on when the Cardassians first occupied Bajor.

Lots of drama to be had there.

I’d still like to see a series set entirely in the Mirror Universe. They can take the two-book series “Dark Passions” as a jumping-off point.
