Identify Colin Cowherd show theme music (used in 1/19 "My Name is Earl" ep)

The Colin Cowherd Show is a nationally-broadcast sports radio show which appears on ESPN Radio affiliates. In the beginning of each show, the instrumental theme song starts up right before Colin starts talking. It starts with a distinct “bamp-bamp-BAH” horn riff, then progresses into a cool little rhythm-section noodling session. The horn riff reprises through the song. After the initial horn riff, the song plays in the background behind Cowherd’s opening monologue.

This same instrumental was also used in the Jan 19th episode of My Name is Earl. It was playing during the scene in which Earl and friends all had just gotten jobs in the Hot Dog King’s office pool, and were running roughshod amongst the cubicles (not long before the copy-machine scene).

Ideas?

Someone on another board IDed the song from the Kill Bill soundtrack as “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” by Tomoyasu Hotei. Not familiar with that one … does that sound right?

Ah yes. One of those pieces that seemed to be deisgned to be trailer music, and what do you know, people keep using it as trailer music.

I miss the Tony Kornheiser show

To be honest, at least Cowherd is interesting. Not as profound or funny as TK, but a decent listen.

TK was once my favorite, but after a while he got into too much minutia about his daily life.

I like his opinions and sports and pop culture. I don’t like hearing about his cat.
