Identify late-'50s instrumental rock song.

It’s a tune from the late 1950s I think. It has pedal steel or dobro, some lilting lead line that is somewhat melancholy and gets really high pitched. I’m certain it was a hit. Any ideas what it’s called?

My guess is “Sleep Walk,” by Santo and Johnny (1959). Here’s a YouTube link.

Got it in one. I saw that footage before but couldn’t recall the name. Thanks!

Argh - my youTube-Fu is malfunctioning.

I came on to suggest Sleepwalk, too - but you must see **Brian Setzer ** play it. Guitar virtuosity at its peak - just beautiful.

I found an example on youTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMJOPno3jWY&feature=related

But I can’t get it to play at work so maybe that link is bad or something. If so, sorry.

But you must see Setzer do this…

This is one of my favorite songs! Modest Mouse does an homage to it called Sleepwalking that is very good. I can’t find a link for it online but it is on the album “Building Nothing Out of Something .”

Thanks! I couldn’t sift through the endless awful home-video covers.
