Identify these anime or manga characters, please?

Look at them right here. They’re an LJ userpic, but the owner of the journal could not tell me what they’re from.

Hmm… I don’t remember that. Looks like a fantasy series… probably done within the last decade.

I believe that’s Otohime Mutsumi of Love Hina. If you take a look at this pic, you’ll that she has the two bangs that stick up in the air and the two bangs that hang down by the shoulders. You can see the girls in your pic has the same.

I’m not sure why there are two of the same girls though. I think either one of the girls is supposed Keitaro’s “dream girl”. (You have to see the show to understand what I mean.) or it might be some weird sequence where the are two Otohimes.

You’ve never seen that costume before, then?

My resident Anime person said:

OK, so my expert has gone back and checked the art style and has come back with “It’s Love Hina”

According to her, most artists don’t use “that hair thing-the arches in the front.” She says it’s only found (to her knowledge) in Shojo.

As for the costume: “There is a lot of gratuitous bathing suit, naked and scantily clad scenes”

I’ll have to check this at home, since I’m Ghostzillaing right now (grayscale pics), but it looks like the “Keitaro falls asleep playing an old NES-style RPG and everybody ends up in his game inspired dream” episode of Love Hina. In that ep, there’s twin fairy-ish girls (think the seashell girls from some of the Godzilla movies).

Ya, I think KKBattousai got it. I couldn’t remember if there was a sequence like that or not. But I’m partly right though, since in that episode, all the characters in the dream RPG were modeled on the girls he knows in real life.

KKBattousai has it right - it’s Mutsumi as the water-maidens in the video-game episode.

And actually, it’s not Keitaro who’s dreaming; it’s Motoko (the kendo champ).

Geek check; I lose. I don’t even watch the show - the Spouse does - and I know the episode. Let me go look for it now . . . okay, it’s episode 8, last one on the second Love Hina DVD.

Excellent. Thanks, guys.
