I’m trying to remember the name of a Black comedian I heard on one of the SiriusXM channels. I only remember one of his bits. Basically, he reminisces about how all of the movies he watched in school about slavery, Jim Crow, the Civil Rights Era, etc., had the same music. Specifically, a deep-voice Black man would hum this mournful dirge, a series of three mournful notes that sound like they were drived from a Negro Spiritual.
The comedian jokingly said that he uses that hummed dirge in his daily life for minor inconveniences. Long line at the bank? Hums mournful dirge. Flight delayed? Hums mournful dirge. Etc.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
