I taped this guy’s set in the late 1980s on one of those comedy-club shows that were popular then, but I forgot to label it and it’s long gone. He looked like a cross between Vincent Schiavelli and the late great Dennis Wolfberg. He had a great bit that went something like this: (picture broad gesturing and appropriate enunciation) "When you’re an ACTOR, you must LEARN to PROJECT your VOICE – so that you can SAY (grandiose pause), ‘Of COURSE I am eligible for FOOD STAMPS!!’ " He also did an extended “trailer” for a supposed upcoming Roman Polanski film: “In (insert RP movie title here) he thrilled you. (repeat similar puffery) In Tess, he bored you to tears!” The movie was a very spooky-sounding “Santa Claus Is Coming,” with accompanying Jaws-type music. Santa is always watching you, he knows what you’re doing, etc. – he’s a stalker. It was hilarious.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
