Scatman John is a minor-league pop star who sings pop songs and infuses them with “scat” lyrics. No, not that kind of scat. Like the Ella Fitzgerald, boo bop a wooba kind of scat. Also, he infuses his songs and linear notes on his CDs with positive, life-affirming feel-good values.
I was in Japan for a few months in 1996 and he was quite popular there. I bought one of his CDs for quite a few thousand yen. It didn’t have the song I wanted. I didn’t buy any more of his CDs.
The song I want has an infectious beat and has words that go like this (and forgive me in advance for the horrible tansliteration of scat (how does one transliterate scat, anyway) that is to follow): “Boo ping poople ping, everybody sing (sing), boo ping popple ping, everybody sing (sing). Pop popple popple pop baby!”
Anyone know?
TIA
