Identify this South American spider

OK, it’s been about 12 to 15 years, so details are sketchy…

I was eating some Chilean grapes when I noticed a spider had made its home in the bunch. Its body (head and thorax) was about 3/4 of an inch; with its legs it spanned about an inch and a half. It was remarkable for its beautiful red, black and yellow coloration.

I let it go in my backyard.

So I’m wondering, did I endanger my neighborhood by loosing a deadly arachnid?

or perhaps one of these cute lil critters…
