My mom has this absolutely beautiful oil painting she bought in Ecuador…the scene is a small mountain town, with large red cardinal birds surreally dropping giant eggs down from above. The colors are so warm and vibrant, and the texture on the hills behind are incredible. She says this is part of a whole Ecuadorian style of folk art, and that she saw hundreds and hundreds of these being sold there. Apparently there’s a massive symbology going on in them-- some have eggs for fertility, some have trains for the future, etc. Does anybody know what this style is called?
