Identifying unknown multi-tool features

I was cleaning out my main kitchen drawer and came across a multi-function tool that’s been there forever. It has a corkscrew, a small pocket knife-sized blade, what I presume is a bottle cap opener, and something that I haven’t a clue. Unfortunately there’s no manufacturer name so I can’t look it up. In general, how can one identify the purpose of the various knobs, hooks, holes, etc. in a Swiss-type pocket knife or a multi-tool? Usually the brand name can be searched online, but if you don’t have that?

ETA: found a picture online of a tool with the same feature, the piece at the top. I presume the part nearest the hinge is a bottle cap opener, but the part at the end?

Used for prying whatever needs prying on a wine bottle. Maybe to get a champagne cork started moving?

Do you mean the sort of reaper shaped blade at the lower right?

It is used for cutting foil off wine bottle that covers the cork.

That part sits on the rim of the bottle and allows the handle to act as a lever for the corkscrew.

Photo here shows it’s a fulcrum used when pulling the cork.

All my wine has screw caps.

Correct. The tool is called a Barman’s Friend (or Waiter’s Friend). I’m dismayed that I can’t find a picture of the corkscrew lever action.

ETA: Ninja’d

Fancy! I just push the little button on the spout of the bag.

It’s known as a waiters friend - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Prezzybox-CD0276-Waiters-Friend-Corkscrew/dp/B000GG4YFA It also takes crown caps off beer bottles. They are far and away the best corkscrew you can buy.

I have a superior one which has a hinge which gives a double action for pulling a cork. It doesn’t see a lot of action these days as most of our wine has screw tops.

Fancy models have an articulate lever arm with two steps.

Even better, but takes up too much room in the fridge.

I always just stick the screw through the foil, raise the cork up a half cm or something, tear off the foil, and then remove the cork completely. You can skip that middle step if foil falling in is no big deal because you’re a man’s man while you drink your white zin and not some nancy!

Agree that these are way better than these stupid fragile two arm openers.

Ah, so what I have is an “everything you need to get a wine bottle open” opener. Thanks all!

Also: I did find this which explains at least many Swiss Army knife tools. Now I know that notch on my bottle cap opener is a “wire bender”.
