Idi Amin Deathwatch and Condolence Thread

Former Ugandan leader Idi Amin is on his death bed.

Too bad this rotten sonofabitch couldn’t die more slowly and painfully. Hypertension and “fatigue” just don’t seem agonizing enough for this blood thirsty bastard who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his countrymen. He was also accused of cannibalistic practices and single-handedly set back the image of Africa a decade (at least). Some excerpts from the linked article:

[sup]BOLDING ADDED[/sup]

As he used to say:

“Some of my best friends are hors d’oeuvres.”

So, let’s all chime in with our sincerest and heartfelt sympathies for this particular specimen of evil. Uganda refuses to permit his body burial there. Three cheers for them.

Zenster

I’ll second that.

What an awful person. The world will be better off without him.

Would that he had been killed when he was overthrown. This bastard doesn’t deserve the retirement he got.

he’s sick?

Must of been someone he ate.

I’m dryly amused by the CNN story’s second paragraph:

Emphasis added. What a nice place Africa must be if Amin has competitors in the bloodiness race.

Bwaaahahahahahahaha!

Good one, Bosda! Why didn’t my perverted chef factotum think of that one?

Say what you want about Idi Amin. Whatever faults he had, he was delicious.

Or was that Gerald Ford?

Oh yeah, I obviously hope he dies in short order and goes somewhere unpleasant.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. What an incredibly nasty man.

Such a happy little name.

Such a big bad man.

Oh, okay. Glad to hear we can dance on his grave. takes part

Who wants to get into a discussion of how a country that would willingly harbor such a man could be our ally for so long? Perhaps there’s something underground?

While I would be the last person to say that killing half a million people is acceptable etiquette, can I just point out that he has the coolest name of just about any dictator in world history, with the possible exception of Pol Pot.

What calibre of dictator-naming do we have now? Robert Mugabe or Charles Taylor? The president of Liberia is named after a sneaker, for fuck’s sake!

they were willing to harbor Saddam Hussein too.

More than once, I have wondered what the hell he did for Saudi Arabia to make them take him in like that.

Man, I wouldn’t have wanted him in MY country for a zillion Swiss bank accounts…

Just a quibble, and I’m not defending the evil bastard, but he hasn’t really set back Africa’s image. It’s not like we would be respecting a place that has pygmie eating child warriors who prefer to go into combat naked if it weren’t for Amin. A place where AIDS continues to spread because of the widespread belief that raping a virgin will cure you of the disease can’t have it’s image harmed very much by one brutal divtator. A place where man-made famine and war are not only common, but the norm doesn’t have much of an image to protect.

He’s just one more fucked up guy in a fucked up continent.

WOW. where to start. This kind of hateful ignorance and thinly-veiled racism may have something more to do with the negative image of Africa than any one of its dictators.

Can we just leave the Anti-Africa slurs out of this? Or can we judge America on the basis of all the nasties that go on there?

If there is one person in the history of Africa who deserves to have the flesh ripped from his living body while he screams in pain (a la Wes Craven’s Hell Raiser style) its Idi Amin.
Jesus Wept.

Well, stop monkeying around with that gun and go kill summa doz sumbitches.

Okay, I know where to start. Please allow me to fight your ignorance on one specific front:

From snopes.com

I have spoken with a number of Africans from various parts of the continent about this and they all report that, until they came to Canada, they had never heard anyone proclaim that sex with a virgin will cure AIDS.

Death is the one great equalizer.

So, if he accepts Jesus, or whatever, just before he croaks, does he go to heaven? Man, what a loop-hole!
