That’s pretty compelling evidence that the age of the bride is irrelevant. At the very least you have to concede that if the group “unwilling Indian brides over 18” are just as unhappy and mistreated as "“unwilling Indian brides under 18” then it’s not rational to assume that age pays a major role.
So no, I don’t think its a good point at all. It’s no different to pointing at the violent crime rate amongst Black crack addicts and claiming that it’s caused by race.

SOME teenagers (mostoly older ones) MIGHT be able to handle it. But on the other hand…even a lot of twentysomething kids change emotionally (you have NO IDEA how many of my friends who were togehter in college broke up after college)

But I think it’s naive to say that age plays no role at all. You don’t think it’s plausible that they’re disempowered because of age and gender?
Or that it’s a coincidence that segments of a society that (with recent resistance) think it’s okay for a 9-year-old girl to marry a 30-year-old man also think, should the man die, the 9-year-old must immolate herself or live the rest of her life as a permanent, wandering widow? Or (a coincidence) that the same men arguing against age of consent laws also have a personal stake in gaining access to young, malleable minds and virgin orifices(e.g. Warren Jeffs)? Or that, as women have been acknowledged as fully human and equals in Western society, the age of consent has risen?
Right. I mean, it’s not like this society just so happens to see women as lesser than men and coincidentally also allows marriage to young girls to happen. If you marry them off before they’re too young to really be able to question or talk back, they’re probably never going to really think of themselves as equal. This is just another way of keeping them down.
A big part of helping girls in this situation isn’t just telling society “Don’t rape anyone.” It’s about seeing women and girls as deserving of the rights that men and boys have, about educating them and ensuring that this society sees that this even is rape.
Huh, and here I was thinking Cesario was gone; hadn’t seen him in awhile. Turns out I just haven’t read any kid-fucking threads in awhile.
