Idiot, I don't care why your dog NEEDS to poop on my yard

Yesterday (for the second time), I caught a woman from a block away letting her dog out of her car to crap in my yard. The first time I ignored it, thinking it was a weird one time thing. Today she saw me leaving the house and suddenly was hurrying up to get her dog back in the car. This is the conversation we had-

**Me- Do you seriously drive your dog here to shit on my yard everyday?

Her- Excuse me, what did you say?

Why do you let your dog get of the car to shit on my yard?

Well, when he rides in the car he has to poop so I have to let him out to poop or else he will poop in my car.

I don’t care; I don’t want dog shit all over my yard!

But it’s gross if he poops in my car.

Well it’s really gross having to stand in shit this spring when I have to paint my picket fence, and people think it’s gross to have to walk in dog shit all over the sidewalk when the snow melts!

But you don’t even own this part here.

I own everything right out to the road and your dog is shitting on my property!

But he has to poop when he rides in the car, and it’s gross if he poops in my car.

So drive around the block back to your own house and let him shit in your giant fenced in backyard! I don’t want your dog shitting in my yard anymore so figure it out!**

At this point she finally got the dog back in her car and drove away. What the hell is wrong with some people? It would be different if she picked up the dog crap, but she just leaves it there. I always wondered who was responsible, until now. Did she really think I would understand her problem and let her keep doing it? I should also mention that there is about 3 feet of lawn between the sidewalk and my fence, and that is where the dog is crapping. Well, there and on the sidewalk. Sure it’s on the snow now, but when it melts…

Have you considered scooping it up and depositing it on her property where it belongs? You’re just returning something her dog dropped, anyway.

I seriously carry a poop bag in my bag. I don’t have a dog. I offer it to people who appear to have forgotten theirs. “Oh, here, you must have left the house without thinking your dog might poop. You can have this bag.”

It has to be the dog’s fault. The woman lives a block away, and the dog decides he has to poop when they get right in front of your house? Not the neighbors on either side, even?

Interesting that despite her protestations and utterly indefensible rationalizations, she was clearly hurrying to get away when she saw you, so she knows what she’s doing is wrong. Dumbass. I heartily endorse this pitting.

So she wasn’t picking it up? That is lame beyond belief. I’ve been walking my dog and she’ll start crapping in the stip of lawn along the roadway (what am I going to do, we live in the city?), but I bag it and throw it away.

As a dog owner who picks up my dog’s poop daily, I too, heartily endorse this pitting.

I would have picked up the dog shit and deposited it on her car. Nice big lump, right on the hood.

Edited to add: that’s what I’d love to think I’d have done. In reality, I’d be so gobsmacked, I’d probably just stand there, open jawed, while Clueless McFuckwit drove away.

A few years ago I started noticing a lot of dog poop on our yard between the hedge and the sidewalk. I was annoyed but we used to have a dog and I’m sure she occasionally pooped somewhere else so I figured it was cosmic payback. Then one day, I was home for lunch, and saw the woman from three places down rush her dog down the street, to the poopy area, let her dog poop and proceed to give him a treat for it. Her yard backs up to a wild undeveloped area she could have trained him to go there if she didn’t feel like cleaning up after him.

I was stuck dumb, that’s for sure. I think my head almost exploded from disbelief and anger.

Even if you don’t have a baggie or have some legitimate physical condition that makes you legally and ethically exempt from picking up dog shit you’d think that you could find a better place than somebody’s yard. How about the bushes in a park or whatever?

My dog shit philosophy is “Make believe it was you who took a crap.” First thing is you’d clean it up. Second thing is that if for any reason you couldn’t clean it up you’d do it in a private place where nobody else would have to clean it up or at the very least bury it in dirt and leaves. (I used to have a pooper scooper that was pointed enough you could do this in a pinch.)

We live in a 15-building garden-style apartment complex on about 20 acres. Pets are allowed, and the management has placed about a dozen poop bag dispensers with trash cans (“Dogipots” they’re called) all around the complex. (There are some places where you can actually see 3 of them from a given point.)

But every day, I see fresh droppings all around the place. Many times, they’re within a few steps from one of the Dogipots. How friggin’ lazy that these owners can’t pick up after their dogs.

I had downstairs neighbors, a couple of girls that looked like they were right out of college. They’d bought an adorable lab pup. But every day, they’d let her do her business on the lawn right in front of our building without picking it up. Ever! I once came out to my car, saw them, and stood as I watched her watch the dog poop, then promptly pick her up and take her inside. She even acknowledged that I was there. No apologies or anything. That’s when I took it upon myself to report her to management. Multiple times. Whenever I personally saw the dog do its doodoo. Eventually, they were evicted. (I understand some delayed rent was part of the eviction too.)

I’ve riden in many cars with many different dogs. I’ve never seen a dog need or try to poop in a car. That’s just weird.

I’m currious if the idot in quesion was attractive. I have an armchair theory that “hawt” women tend to be clueless about stuff like this.

Could be possible but she could drive around the block so her dog is at her own house when he has to get out. My cat poops every time he has to go in the car somewhere, he ends up pooping in his cat carrier.

This is pissing me off so much. The dog has to poop once it’s in the car (as opposed to before going in? Or being taken on a walk?) and she decides, specifically, to let it off at your house? And not bagging it? What a self-absorbed asshole.

Well clearly she isn’t clueless about it, or else she wouldn’t have tried to keep it a secret and hurried away.

Dog poop threads, dog barking all night threads, etc. If I were a dog-person, I guess I’d be less irritated by these owners. But I’m not.

Until someone shows me old black & white photographs of Birmingham Alabama policemen throwing cats at Black protesters, I’ll be a cat person.
