What is it with so many total braindead idiot “parents” (more like amoebas who mindlessly reproduce!) who leave their tiny kids in the car by themselves? And the kids in this case in Minnesota ended up putting the car into gear and driving into a lake, and the idiot bitch amoeba only notices they’re gone a half hour later. Sounds like another Susan Smith to me! I’d hope no mother with a brain cell in her head would actually be this stupid or inattentive- sounds like she would actually be trying to off her kids!
Choo got a link for that, bebby?
Or is this just an all purpose “Bad parents suck!” rant?

And yes, I’d agree that “bad parents DO suck” because there seem to be so DAMN MANY OF THEM AND THEY’RE THE ONES WHO HAVE NO PROBLEM MAKING MORE KIDS TO TREAT LIKE CRAP! The wrong people are infertile.
Righto.
Looks like mom made a mistake. A big one.
However, it sure as hell doesn’t look like “Susan Smith” to me.
And I’d bet she certainly noticed they were gone long before “half an hour later” since the rescue crews arrived, located, and retrieved the boys within a half an hour. This woman made a mistake that she’s going to be haunted by for the rest of her life. There is no indication that she did not love her children, and I think it’s pretty insensitive to insinuate that she should be infertile because of it. I can’t even come close to imagining how she feels right now. One of her boys is dead. Another probably will never be the same again. And it is HER FAULT. I wouldn’t want to be in her place for all the money in the world.
True, but doesn’t change the fact that she’s an idiot.
How many times do we read about a parent leaving a child in car with windows rolled up and coming back and finding the child dead? Or finding that a sentient being has broken the window to save the child?
5, maybe 6 times a summer?
You know, I consider myself a pretty cautious mother and I must admit that I’ve left my kids in the car on occasion when I went into a convenience store. I mean, that’s the beauty of convenience stores. They have glass fronts and you can park close. Then you can run in and get a gallon of milk without having to unstrap two kids from their car seats and strap them back in.
Of course I turned off the ignition and enabled the car alarm. Because my fear was that someone would try to steal the car or them. I must admit that I never considered the possibility that one of them could have freed herself from the carseat, disabled the parking brake, and rolled the van down a hill and into a lake.
So I’m with Belladonna here in feeling that this woman should have your sympathy, not your contempt. You don’t KNOW that Mrs. Thunder was a crappy mother. You just know she made an error in judgement. A mistake for which she has paid dearly.
Despite your best intentions of being The Perfect Mother, Sweet Lucy, I can assure you that you’ll make them too. And I promise you that we won’t be lining up to stone you when you do.
Spooje, did you read the article? She went into a convenience store. It took the paramedics a half hour to free the children from the submerged car. That’s NOT saying that the mother was gone for a half hour.
