If Trump is so pro-Russia, why is he demanding that NATO allies increase defense spending, rather than recommending that they decrease it? Their decreasing it would make Putin happy.

No, I meant it in this thread. The notion that Trump is pro-Russia is exaggerated.
Or that NATO spending was a campaign position that he poorly understood but, by gum, he’s holding to it!
Demanding that NATO allies go above and beyond what they have already agreed to do destabilizes NATO and makes NATO membership less attractive.
This is exactly what Putin wants.
