If Dune must be made, should it not be a TV show?

'Still waiting for Jodorowsky’s version, myself.

I never read the books but i’ve watched the 1984 movie quite a few times and have YouTubed several channels covering the Dune universe quite extensively. The new movies has a November 2020 release date and an awesome cast. I hope it lives up to expectations.

Yeah, it is pretty vague. I always liked the Encyclopedia of Dune’s take on the events as the hospital-administrating AI was randomly aborting babies to control the human population on one of the planets, likely others following suit. When people found out, they freaked out, and then instigated the jihad where they tolerated no machines more complex than a zip gun. It was only after it was all over that they came to regret the fanatic destruction of technology.

And the thing to keep in mind is that they had technologically recovered, enough to fly between the stars, but were skirting allowing machines to compute by using humans (mentats, guild navigators) in those roles with varying success. Never mind that as much as they condemned and loathed the Tleilaxu, who had been spared the Jihad, the Empire all hungrily bought up their genetically engineered delicacies and advanced prosthetics.

Wow, no lie. That’s good casting, I actually just got goosebumps.

Please don’t suck.

if I remember the tv version of the movie which had like a 20 minute history lesson prolouge it said that the computers had enslaved the human race to the point people didn’t know how to read or write and weren’t allowed to and were basically living in an ancient egypitan style slave society for several hundred if not thousands of years until the revolt

its why they knew somewhat of the old history snd religions but didn’t really understand them

like in the book paul reads about hitler in a history lesson and tries to decide if killing 6 million people in a war is admirable or not but all the nuances and specifics are lost ……
