I don’t normally agree with this type of plan.
However, nominating another woman would do it. And if a moderate woman, it would be perceived as overreaching.

Gavin. But the polls show him beating Desantis but losing to trump. In fact everyone but Joe loses to trump. Sad isnt it? If trump bites the dust, then its wide open.
He is pretty popular, but he is another CA candidate , and doesnt balance the ticket at all. Also, in theory, there are issues with electors.
Best bet would be Rust belt. Long shots would be someone for Florida or texas.
If it was a Biden-type, why not outgoing North Carolina governor Roy Cooper?
In this scenario though, I’d like to see Whitmer.
Andy Beshear, Kentucky governor.
Keith Ellison is about the same age, would excite the same enemies, and would be seen as constitutionally acceptable. But he’ll probably be busy occupying another office.
My left-field proposal here is Peter Daou. Not that he likes or wants to work with Harris; but he’s a more-than-just-cultural Christian, & he’s pretty progressive.
Except for Harris, this can be explained by lack of name recognition.
As for Harris, everyone may know who she is, but I’m not convinced people have made up their minds about her as fully as they have already made up their minds about a Biden v. Trump race.
Agreed – but if this circumstance came to pass, it might be the rare occasion that the pick matters.
I admire the heck out of her, and frankly might rather see her at the top of the ticket over Harris. But now I’m fighting my own hypothetical!
Interesting!
Hard pass. Not only is he not a Democrat, but he’s currently helping Cornel West undermine the Democrats’ chances.
Stacey Abrams?
So you think a ticket featuring two women of color can win the White House, in the United States, in 2024? Hell, running against Trump, any two random sane people ought to be able to win, but in reality I don’t see that as the best chance of winning.
I don’t think she’d want it if it meant abandoning her work in Georgia.
I truly wish we lived in a country where I didn’t have to agree with this…but I agree with this.
Ironically, I think this country is polarized enough that it just might work. The folks who are going to vote for Trump or whichever GOP candidate manages to wrench the ticket from him are going to do their thing regardless, and Dems who will vote straight ticket because anyone is better than Trump will do their thing. That leaves young politically discouraged progressives who may be motivated to get out and actually vote for a refreshingly different DEM ticket that two Black women would bring. Plus Stacey Abrams is vastly more personable and popular than Harris.
I’d like to see Gina Raimondo at the head of the ticket, but that’s not going to happen in this hypo. She’d be a great running mate for Harris or anyone else. I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that two women would be at a disadvantage but so many people would think it is that it won’t happen.
That is…a good argument for Stacey Abrams, actually. Sort of a Theodore Roosevelt to Kamala’s Wm. McKinley.
I think you are overly optimistic. But I do agree that Stacy Abrams is extremely personable and popular, and I’d love to see her as president.
I actually find this terribly amusing.
There are several scenarios, including this one, that would be fascinating to see play out.
Let’s Save Game, try this, and if it doesn’t work out well, go back to the save point and try something else.
I think you’ll see tremendous push back from the Dems who only want to see white men nominated for major political positions (supposedly as to not anger white Republicans).
She’s already the President of Earth:
Care to mention who those white men are and how much influence they have in the Democratic Party?
