I got some REAL hot chocolate today. Well, they call it “drinking chocolate”. It’s just a package of little pieces of dark chocolate. You pour a bit into a pot of milk, heat it up till it begins to froth, then enjoy. Hot DAMN is it ever good. Too good to keep to myself. It’s like a mug full of orgasms.
Chocolate orgasms? Did someone say chocolate orgasms?
Is that stuff like the Chantico from Starbucks? Jim and I are pretty well hooked on that sinful stuff, and we hate going to Starbucks. So, did you buy this stuff at a chain that has a Calgary location, she said hopefully?
Hot milk, Penzey’s Dutch process cocoa, a shot of french vanilla syrup, a shot of Bailey’s, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Microwave milk until hot, put everything in blender, and blend until frothy.
I’ve tried their chocolate-covered cherries and ice wine chocolates as well, but they actually leave something to be desired - I’ve had better. But the drinking chocolate is fantastic.
Where do I sign up? In all seriousness though, there’s a good possibility that I’ll be going to grad school in Waterloo, and you’re top on my list of Canadopers to meet.
This takes me back to snow days when I was a kid. It’s the only time mom would make hot chocolate (milk, Hershey’s powder, sugar) and she would serve it with buttered bread folded over. You would dip the bread in the hot chocolate and eat chocolately, melted-buttery, gooey yumminess. No orgasms, but a highlight nonetheless.
Mmmm…Girl Scout Cookies! I used to serve a lot of these when I waitressed up in Nederland. They were always the hit when folks were coming down from the slopes.
