If I wanted to have an experience with the fae, where would I go?

I’m not saying I believe in faeries. With that said, if one was open-minded, curious, and willing to seek the wee folk out, where would one go? (and dont say the funny farm.)

Out in the forest in the dead of night and look for a ring of toadstools. That’s my guess.

‘Finding Faeries’ gets lots of hits

I’m just not that open-minded.

If you eat some of the toadstools you might even see one

I think you’d have to find a relatively isolated community with a continuing strong folk belief in the good people. Newfoundland would be where I would start, but there are probably other places as good.

I would suggest San Francisco late at night at one of the happening clubs.

I would try to find a small, rural town in Ireland to find fairies. Or you might look in Chelsea…I hear that part of NYC is brimming with the fae.

Do elves qualify? If so, I’d recommend Iceland. You might not be able to drive directly to the site, though.

I could be wrong, but, from a preliminary reading it seems like faeries derive strength from the faith of those who believe in them. All this time I thought that was purely from the community-college ‘Peter Pan’ production. (although I have heard it used as an explanation to why all discarded gods no longer have power:dubious:) In my opinion that’s got to be one hell of a confirmation bias problem.

I was waiting for this.

Try leaving a bowl of milk out on Midsummer’s Eve, and then watching from a safe distance. Or if you want to get out and see the world, Carn Gluze in St. Just in Penwith, Cornwall, UK, is supposed to be a good site for the fairy dance.

Go to Kilkenny, Ireland and drink a liter of Jameson. If this doesn’t conjure up faeries, I can’t help you.

From Karyn’s search, the second hit:

Yeah, when one of 'em comes out to bitchslap your ass for eating her lovely furniture. :stuck_out_tongue:

“strange tasting feacies near tree roots all are sine’s of Fairy activity.”

Hmm.

It makes sense. Anyone who abuses apostrophes so badly has got to be dumb enough to eat shit.

Well if that’s true then you should come to my house because I have all sorts of strange and odd looking mushrooms growing out of the bases of oak and madrone trees right now. You’ll have to taste test them yourself though.

Europe. North Americas has a relative dearth of Wee Folk, saving perhaps the Stone Throwers, & those lil dudes are alleged to be mean.

I would suggest a European knick-knack shop. Eat some shrooms before beginning your adventure.

At the bottom of my garden.

The Fair Folk can be found all over if you but know how to look. My neighborhood is filled with Russian immigrants, who have brought Slavic faeries with them. I myself have a domovoi- a small, helpful household spirit who helps prevent fires and keep away pests and such. He looks a little like a Russian Ed Asner only two feet tall and covered in hair.
There is a surviving fae court in Philadelphia. As I have said before, this is why there is so much iron work in the old city.

The town of Wall, UK is knownfor it’s proximity to Faerie
