If Jay Nixon had ran for president in 2016

Pre World War II levels. A large standing army and the military-industrial complex has only become a thing since WWII. Ask President Eisenhower, he’ll tell you.

We don’t really have a strong military right now. Yes, defense spending should be cut for some waste, but isn’t it hollow now? That’s what some friends are telling me.

The United States has the most powerful military in the world in all aspects. We have the most powerful Army, the most powerful Navy, the most powerful Air Force.

Please cite proof that this is wrong.

This is what I found.

No, I asked for proof that the U.S. does not have the most powerful military in the world. I did not ask for an opinion from some schlub in Orangeburg County, South Carolina that the U.S. military is dangerously hollow.

He’d be either third or fourth – one space ahead or behind O’Malley – since they’d be splitting the “we pretty much agree with Hilary’s policies* but are iffy about her for other reasons” vote.

*Since Hillary, not unlike Nixon, is a **centrist Democrat **.

He would be doing well in the South. How would he fare against the GOP field if he won the nomination without Ferguson?

So much the better. That would leave America just as safe as we are now, and a whole lot richer.

The U.S. outspends the next ten countries combined militarily. Stop reading right-wing fear sites. That’s a redundancy, I know. Let me amend that. Stop reading right-wing sites.

How far would he fly if he had wings?

This reminds me of one of my dad’s favorite expressions, which I also try to use at every opportunity: “If a frog had wings, he wouldn’t bump his ass.”

Not a chance. The nomination has always been Hillary’s to lose, and no one was going to beat her by running to her right.
