If one of my threads tanks here, is ok for me to post to it?

I was wondering if I post a thread that tanks (which they usually do), is ok to post something to it so it will back on top?

I believe one bump is within board parameters.

Hi and welcome! I’m not a moderator, but I saw a mod post about this once. What you are wanting to do is called “bumping” your thread. It’s OK to bump a thread once but only once, if I’m remembering correctly.

The forum ATMB (About This Message Board) has lots of useful info in it.

This is from this thread over in About This Message Board, like John Carter of Mars mentioned (about a third of the way down). Lots of pertinent guidelines and such in that thread.

Oh yeah, welcome.

Thanks. Would it be ok to “bump” again if there are a couple of posts to a thread in between?

First of all, I’m not a moderator, so don’t take my word as gospel.

I think bumping really only refers to blatant resuscitation attempts of otherwise dead threads. There’s no limit to how many times you can post in your own thread, so long as you’re, you know, conversing. If you’re only posting to bump the thread up again, the administration frowns on that. They allow it once because sometimes it’s needed, but they frown on it beyond that.

In other words, if you’re responding to other posters, you can do that to your heart’s content, but you only get one “Come on, people, look at me!” post.

What if you just like talking to yourself? I do it all the time myself when offline, out loud, but usually when alone.

What if someone has multiple personalities? Or would posting under multiple personalities be considered a violation of the rules - i.e. more than one person using the same username?

Anyhoo…

What about someone with multiple personalities posting under a different username for each personality? Would that be a violation of the rules?

Anyhoo…

Roland, is that you? If so, you lose points for not mentioning Allnurses.com.

Thanks for my first good laugh of the morning, dnooman.
