E-business and 1-800 number, you register everybody you want notified if you die. Email, phone, whatever. You put ‘www.notifier.com’ (don’t know if it’s taken - this is all off the top of my head here) as the a primary contact on all your legal stuff. We also provide wallet cards, necklaces, bracelets, tattoos, whatever it takes.
Charge is $1 per person to be notified – $10 minimum, annually. Every November you get a list of the people we are notifying (via Email?), that you can use as a holiday card list. Every January you send in the reply card, or go online, to update your list.
If (heaven forfend) you passed away (or were hospitalized?), notice would be received, confirmation made (Red Cross, morgue), and persons/businesses/whatever notified.
If something happened to me, nobody would notify the boards. I’d just disappear and nobody would care because I’ve only been around for a few months. Just another newbie passing through.
I do wonder how I’d notify my wife’s parents if something happened to her. They live in PR China and don’t speak any English, and I don’t speak any Chinese.

Now as for how she would know…we’re still working on that–we have discussed the matter of how the other would find out if something happened to one of us (damn these long-distance relationships!). If something happened to her, her best friend would tell me, but I don’t have anybody to tell her about me :(.
Actually, my parents know enough about her to look through my address book and notify her…problem solved :).
I’ve set up a small cron job on my computer to do this. If I don’t tell it not to at least once every 3 weeks, it’ll post here under my name that something awful must have happened to me.
Well, not really. But I have thought about it. And it would be VVC to announce my own demise.
I can’t think of anyone who’d post if something happened to me. (No one who has any credibility here at any rate, and let’s just leave it at that.)
A few Dopers have my home and/or work numbers, but if something happened and I suddenly stopped posting, getting notification on the SDMB would rely on a Doper missing my posts enough to call my work (since I wouldn’t answer my home phone being dead and all) and maybe find out that way.
No one I know IRL posts to this board. So if I dropped off the face of the earth tomorrow, no one here would know and (sniff) no one would probably care.
Una (Anthracite) & I have set it up so that if anything happens to us, our best friends will email the other person. I’m sure at some point we’d be compos mentis enough to realise that we need to post the news to the board, but that wasn’t the reason we set it up.
No one would be able to tell you guys if I left for the hereafter. My friends know about the SDMB, but they have never posted and could care less about it. They don’t know that I would be missed. I would be missed, right? Right?!
hmmmm, probably Pure Phreak, Iampunha, Crystalgurl, or maybe Digitalmuse. The most likely of the group would be Pure Phreak if he had time to post it because he practically lives at my house sometimes, and vice versa.

the GOK file has all sorts of lovely information should something unfortunate or criminal happen to me. for example; a list of all prescription drugs, favourite otc drugs, who my doctors and dentist are, (how are you gonna get dental records without knowing what dentist.) a picture to use if there is a need ( have you seen this chair?) and most important a list of people to contact should the unforseen occur, the sdmb is mentioned in this section. it is quite a file.
I suppose Jester would get around to telling y’all eventually. And if not him, then I would hope Zoggie would miss me. Other than that, I don’t really think many would notice if I suddenly vanished…
mrblue or Le Sang, probably. If one of them didn’t pick up on it, my dad would get around to it, he knows how important this place is to me, I think, and can usually be counted on to do cute thoughtful weird stuff like notify a random message board of his daughter’s untimely demise.
Just hope its not this summer, the odds go way up when I move in with Le Sang. (Look for his “So I murdered my housemate” thread in about October. He’ll be asking how to hide the body. Unless he makes it look like a horrible changing the lightbulb Sims-esque accident. Uh-oh…now I’m giving him ideas.)
Depends on how it happened. The most likely ways, I don’t think anyone would know for a while. I kind of like that. I could pull a SingleDad, though he’s not actually dead.
Most likely, my SO, Bryan. He knows what this board means to me, and he was at the last LA Dopefest, so some of the local dopers know who he is. He lurks somewhat, but has never signed up on the board (but he had a good time at the dopefest. Go figure.), but he’d come on to say something.
No one. That’s perhaps the scariest thing. Not a single person would be able to say it to you, and you’d forget about me, and I don’t want that happening… aghhhh! Now I’m scared!
