If Superman was prepared...

Damn.
Black Adam could kill him. Any of the Marvels probably could, if properly motivated. Martian Manhunter certainly could. Firestorm..likely, but it wouldn’t be easy.
Alan Scott could, and MAYBE Hal Jordan. (For extra geek points I’ll throw in Mogo too. )

I could name more. Superman is incredibly powerful, but he’s neither omipotent (well, not anymore) or invincible.
I was going to name suggestions, but I want you all to earn your geek points. One on one, I don’t think the Marvels can pull it off. I don’t think Black Adam would use the Shazam trick, because he would fear turning mortal. The Marvels as a team = extinction of all Kryptonians. I’ll give a maybe to the Martian Manhunter, but only because Supes was fighting as a hero where J’onn wasn’t. Supes can beat Darkseid and he can not only dodge the Omega Beams, he can survive them, too.

I suppose Alan Scott could if his energy is purely mystical. I forgot if it got retconned. I thought it was from the same source as the Oan energy. I’m not sure what Hal could do. I think his current fearlessness would try to take Supes head on, and then he would quickly start wondering how it is possible his energy bubble was shattered.

Firestorm would have to transmute something into Kryptonite and I don’t think Supes is going to stand still for that. Ronnie might be able to trick him, but I thnk Jason is too green to out maneuver Supes (I haven’t kept up with Firestorm even though he was one of my favorite characters).

Oh and didn’t Doomsday just really put Supes into a coma while he revived in the Kryptonian battle suit? (And, if he had one, why the hell didn’t he just use that?)

They could, and they have, or rather, Billy has. Captain Marvel has brought Superman down several times - almost always resorting to the lightning trick, but that’s still a win. Most recently, just before Infinite Crisis when Supes was possessed by Eclipso. (Batman and his much ballyhooed contingency plans? Nowhere to be seen.) And the Marvels (and Wonder Woman) are frequently portrayed of having an advantage over Superman even in a straight up fist-fight because they’re magically empowered.

And Black Adam has no fear of becoming mortal. He did it to prove a point in 52, after he married Isis, and he recently gave all his powers to Mary Batson in Countdown. And in JSA Black Reign, when Atom Smasher was on death’s door at his full size, Adam repeatedly called down the lightning to restart Al’s heart.

Superman vs the top Marvels is a loss for Big Blue.

Jason has the ability to merge with anyone and take their powers. He could simply merge with Supes and keep him in the Matrix infinitely.

Of course he’d have to stay Firestorm for an infinite period as well…
Physically beat the tar out of him? Really? Who? Even magic users have to be somewhat weary to overcome Supe’s speed and strength.

Valdius, Darkseid, Sinestro when not acting like an idiot, White Martians.

He doesn’t need to do that. Black Adam is as fast as Superman and has gone one on one with him before. Until recently, he never had to share his power so he will not be weakned. In DOV he showed that he can unleash an area wide magical attack without turning mortal. Black Adam can and should be Superman.

Of course, if you want the ultimate Superman killer you just have to look across the universe to one of Marvel’s oddest but coolest characters.
Really, OCS, I can’ t believe you wrote that. You’re leaving yourself open to an out-geeking.

Superman has two other major weaknesses, remember: magic and red-sun radiation. No, make that two and a half, as he can also be mind-controlled. Therefore a completely prepared Man of Steel would need the Supermobile (which can protect him from all sorts of radiation), plus some magical gizmo to protect him from the mystic arts and with training in resisting telepathic incursions. (I know there’s a specific Kryptonian mental discipline that would be appropriate, but I’m going to give you a chance to regain geek points by naming it yourself.)
He’d also need to gank the helmet from the Juggernaut.
Not Doomsday, but almost.

Therefore: two Doomsdays.
What about a Doomsday and a hammer?

The Spanish Inquisition?

Galactus could eat him, no matter how prepared.

Ah, but could Galactus’ bowels withstand some super punching and some super kicking?

Galactus doesn’t even originate from our universe, and besides being a cosmic being, he can duke it out with enormously powerful beings who are basically representations of metaphysical concepts - the Inbetweener for instance.

Supes would hardly make an appetizer.

 Nobody would expect them!

Now that Mary Marvel has the combined power of Black Adam and Isis, she should be able to take Superman easy.

Reality-punching Superboy should be able to cream the current Supeman.

True dat. Galactus sucked all the power out of Ultron’s fusion reactor when they bumped into each other (Secret Wars) with barely a gesture of his hand, and on the assumption he could deplete Supes’s solar energy reserves as easily, he’s got the Kryptonian on toast.

I agree about Superboy. I’d really like to see how the Flash(es) took him out, and how he got the Anti-Monitor armor.

I didn’t know they made the Marvels so powerful. I guess that’s what I get for waiting for 52 to come out in TPB.

I would give Marvel’s Thor an edge agains Supes. I’m pretty sure he’s perfectly capable of hammering Superman’s magic vulnerability (pun intended.)

J’onn should have pretty good odds against Superman, especially if he can phase through Supes’ attacks to land his own.

I’m not sure if these answer the question of the OP, since I have no idea what constitutes “prepared” for the Man of Steel.

If you want to go into the MU, and stick to the conventional, non-Galactus superhero types then the easy winner is the Silver Surfer. Whatever about a Thor/Superman fight, the Surfer would beat Superman in a brutally one-sided curbstomp. Now if Superman were prepared and used his super-intellect (does he still have that?) then who knows.
