If Trump loses, what does it mean "He won't go quietly."?

If he could be used to continue to rally white supremacists and other anti-American groups to continue to cause domestic disturbances, sure.

A great way to get someone else to start being useful would be to showily help someone for having been useful.

I don’t for a second think that Trump would relocate to Moscow, even if to avoid prosecution. But if he did, you don’t think Putin would eat up the propaganda value of an ex-president self-exiling to Russia?

I rally don’t give a shit what Trump does after he concedes/gives up/goes away. If he wants to flee the country, great: saves us the cost of Secret Service protection for the rest of his sorry life.

All the dirt on him will come out one way or another, whether he’s here or not, either in court, Congress, or the press. It’s all good.

Woosh!

That’s true in cases with somebody who’s known to be a Russian agent. But Trump has always denied serving Russian interests. So if Putin refused to let Trump in, what’s Trump going to do? Announce he’s been a Russian agent all along and denounce Putin for being disloyal to him?

For what it’s worth, I personally don’t feel Trump is a Russian agent. Sure, the Russians put resources into getting Trump elected but that’s because they saw the benefits of disrupting the American government. Putin isn’t giving Trump orders; he doesn’t need to - he’s benefiting just by letting Trump be Trump.

Putting that aside, would Putin let Trump defect to Russia? He might. Trump doesn’t appear to have been a lot of attention to his job but he must have learned some useful secrets as President. I’m sure Putin would like this information. Nonsuch mentioned the value of having Trump as a propaganda exhibit. And offering to extradite Trump could serve as a bargaining chip if Putin ever needs to negotiate with a future American administration.

I’m not sure Putin wants to be in close proximity to a pathetic reminder of what his own future may one day hold if the Russian people finally have had enough of him.

Trump is so fucking stupid, he might just do this.

I figure if there’s ever a power struggle in Russia, Putin either wins or he’s killed in the fight. I don’t think there’s a middle ground where Putin loses and lives.

Hitler analogy! Finish the bottle.

What Hitler analogy? Hitler wasn’t killed in a coup.

“We were good friends with Hitler in 1938.”

In a bit of an underreported story, Trump recently issued an executive order stripping the civil service protections from tens of thousands of federal employees. Meaning that those employees could be fired at will and replaced by political hacks whose loyalty is to Trump. Interestingly, he seems to be setting this up to take effect January 19 – the day before the inauguration – but he could move that up sooner if he wanted to.

Potentially, this could let him stack the civil service with hundreds or thousands of cronies who would retain their jobs well into the Biden Administration. Of course, Biden could then fire them under the same authority, but it would likely take time to root them out and would create chaos at these agencies.

Nah, just duct tape him to his office chair and wheel him out.

Better yet, find a long steep ramp and shove the chair down it. Have a brick wall lined with razor wire at the end. Border Wall 2.0.

Trump’s plan is forward looking. He wants to establish governance by rewards. There was a time when people could just waltz in and out of the White House with envelopes full of cash; the civil service was designed to create a real bureaucracy of competent administrators, and for all of America’s faults, it has a very effective, competent federal bureaucracy. It’s full of people who know how to do their jobs, and that’s what Trump and his cronies hate. If re-elected, we will have a vastly different American federal bureaucracy, and a very different relationship between the federal government and the people.

One hopeful thing about Trump’s ability to wreak havoc on his way out is the Congressional Review Act, which allows Congress by joint resolution to overturn any rule or regulation passed by the Administration through a joint resolution passed within 60 legislative days of the rule’s enactment. So if Ds take both chambers and Biden wins, they will be able to undo any rules that Trump tries to push through during his lame duck period – if they act quickly enough.

And this is exactly what the Rs did when Trump won in 2016 – Congress passed resolutions to overturn 14 late-enacted Obama regulations and Trump signed them into law in his first weeks in office.

I once saw a patient in a nursing home who was suffering from dementia. She spent most the day, most days, moving back and forth in a rocking chair while crying “Mobile home! Mobile home!”. I never found out what connected this patient to a mobile home - but it sounded pretty intense.

If Trump ends up in a nursing home, perhaps his demented cry would be “Covid! Covid”. He’s been saying that anyway, and the connection is more clear.

More likely “Cofefe, cofefe!”

Holy crap, he’s lost his "v"s!
