I’m sure more will be coming over soon. Deport hundreds of Hispanic people, accept dozens of white supremacists.
I didn’t think of that! How many die-hard MAGAs went out and bought a ‘Teslar’ after car salesman trump shilled them from the White House lawn, I wonder? It’s got to be a sizable number.
The talk show monologues have been calling out Dem politicians who’ve been coming out saying ‘I actually agree with Elon". I hope Musk doesn’t get a slate-clearing of his reputation with Dems now-- “the enemy of my enemy is now my friend” kind of thing. Musk has caused too much damage, and will continue to destroy institutions and peoples’ lives in pursuit of his own goals. Just because his words and actions happen to align with Dems at the current moment does not make him acceptable.
Aw, I hope not. I’m enjoying the delicious schadenfreude, along with some popcorn and a beverage…
I think Trump and Musk have to just fight it out for a while like two kids fighting in a park.
I don’t think there are a ton of red hats that went out and bought Teslas. For the MAGA crowd, electric cars are for pointy-headed liberals and burning fossil fuels is what God wants us to do. In addition, they tend to live in more rural areas away from convenient charging stations. I think they are the last demographic who would want to buy electric vehicles.
Question for Dopers:
Do you think Musk has any extra information on the Epstein files?
My guess is no, he is just saying what everyone on planet earth has speculated is true, namely, that Trump had shady and/or illegal sex via Epstein or was otherwise involved (e.g., may not have had sex with underage people himself but might have seen Epstein and/or others clearly involved, etc.).
Musk may have heard from others supposedly in the know that Trump is implicated in the files, but I doubt he can produce any goods himself. But he’s such a “genius” that I’m sure he thought he was offering some sort of special insight.
Probably not, but the Cybertruck demographic was clearly not EV-lovin’ Libs, either, so I think some Red Hats bought them just to be obnoxious. Then again, the Cybertruck hasn’t sold well, so the absolute number of MAGAs who have bought them is probably low.
Yup, the effect of the recent decision is that Musk is still legally a South African citizen, unless he formally filed renunciation paperwork with Home Affairs. Dual citizenship with Canada was never an issue because he had it from birth; and his US naturalisation was apparently in 2002 which puts him within the scope of the Constitutional Court’s decision.
We still don’t want him back; let Canada have him.
On another note, perpetual troll state Russia has offered Musk political asylum:
Think of the amazing titles the Great Leon could have in the future: Associate Führer of America, Duke of Pretoria, Prince of the Great White North, King of Mars, and Emperor of Space!
To say that he deserves such honors is an understatement as vast as the cosmos itself.
My impression was that they were mostly Tech Bros. They really follow Musk, and so supported Trump like good little sheep. Now that Musk has fallen out of favor with Trump, they’ll likely stop supporting Trump as well, so no need to burn their stupid trucks in protest.
Scraping off the Trump bumper stickers might be a problem, though.
Ah, you’re probably right. Dipshit Leon fanbois and fair-weather Trumpists.
If no more information comes out that will be proof of a coverup.
I find myself wondering if anything he’s done in the last six months could be considered a crime here in Canada. I mean, there’s credible accusations that he’s walked off with lots of sensitive information gleaned from US government computers. Could we charge him with espionage against an allied* government?
*I’m willing for a moment to overlook the fact that we’re not quite as allied as we once were, to get this done.
The Dems would do well to remember and practice Maxim 29: “The enemy of my enemy is my enemy’s enemy. No more. No less.”
Bears reminding that he has a record of throwing around gratuituous insinuations in that direction when not shown desired deference (e.g. the Thailand cave rescuers; pre-purchase Twitter in general). It’s one of his go-to accusations to make with zero follow-up substantiation. Here he’s also taking advantage of that the general social-net-only-“informed” public thinks what went on with Jeffrey is far worse than anything that has been actually put on the official public record.
Maybe he can finance a buddy movie featuring Steven Seagal and himself.
I wouldn’t take much stock in whatever the Epstein files supposedly show. The information in it has likely been modified to fit the needs of the regime. If there’s compromising stuff on DJT, you can bet your sweet ass it’s going to be expunged. Sort of like Hunter’s laptop, which was in hostile hands for so long you’d never know what was in there and what was planted.
Yeah, he’s just repeating a meme that has already been circulating for a while, I think.
This whole falling out is proving to be quite the show though, it’s like watching a caged death match between Dolores Umbridge and Jar Jar Binks. I want both of them to lose.
I always find it curious how far the media will go to defend Trump - probably just laziness or a desire to avoid sounding like a tabloid, but it really doesn’t make sense to avoid all the various angles when there are so many of them. Here, for example, is The Hill blurb about Trump’s connection to Epstein:
A source familiar emphasized to The Hill that Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his Palm Beach Golf Club years ago and noted the administration previously released Epstein files with the President’s name included.
Which I note doesn’t mention that this was many years after Trump revealed knowledge of Epstein’s preferences and only appears to have come when the police started to question other members of the Club. It wasn’t prompted by Trump learning anything except that the matter had become a liability to the development.
By all accounts, Trump was introduced to his wife by Epstein and appears to have had a friendly relationship with both Ghislaine Maxwell and Gwendolyn Beck, two people accused of participating in Epstein’s orgies with underage women. There are reports of Trump throwing Epstein a party of just the two men with an arrangement of women as a gift to Epstein. He issued a statement of support for Maxwell when she was finally arrested, and invited Beck to the Oval Office during his first term.
Trump was further known to have had friendly relationships with John Cassablancas, a model manager made infamous for having sexual relationships with underaged girls. Trump business associate, Tevfik Arif, was arrested in Turkey for trying to arrange the delivery of underaged girls for a business deal but released for unknown reasons. The Trump Administration was later revealed to have considered a plan to kidnap a Turkish national, under American protection for being threatened by the Turkish President, and deliver him to Turkey; allowed Turkey to invade regions of Kurdish control in Northern Syria, despite Kurdish support in the region for stability and the suppression of terrorism and despite Turkish transgressions like arresting Christian priests and supporting the Russian military industry.
During his campaign, Trump was accused by participants of Miss Teen USA of coming to peek on the girls changing; he was also threatened with a legal suit by an anonymous woman, claiming to have been raped by Trump while underage, at a party hosted by Epstein. It’s unknown whether this threat was real, however it was shown during the Stormy Daniels case that Trump does regularly pay parties to maintain silence over matters that he would suffer from politically or personally.
Trump’s social circle also included Steve Wynn, Vince McMahon, and a half dozen other wealthy men that appear to have had hobbies of sexual predation. McMahon is currently under suit for protecting a man in the WWE known to have been grooming and sexually taking advantage of young boys. McMahon’s wife currently serves as the director of the Bureau of Education in the Trump Administration.
Ooooo… a romantic triangle! We’re gonna need a LOT more popcorn!
No doubt after he peeked at the partially naked girls, he came to [a] peak. A small one.
A ton of red hats would be about five or six of them, right? I believe there are that many who bought Teslas, probably even more.
