I was coming in to post that. Clearly it is illegal to threaten someone for their political preferences. OTOH if Trump cancels Musk’s government contracts over this-well, can two wrongs make a right just this once?
- Musk can back any candidate he wants to. First Amendment.
- If Trump retaliates, that’s election interference; a felony. 18 U.S.C. § 241 and 52 U.S.C. § 20511.
- Musk is free to disrespect the Office of the President. First Amendment.

FWIW, I predict that they will be back together within a week or so. I’m not saying it was contrived. Trump is too dumb for that, but that they will decide they need each other too much.
- And would be prosecuted by whom? Certainly not the Bondi DOJ.
If there’s “Musk stink” on any democrat candidates, that likely causes them to lose.

I think when the truth comes out it will show that Elon Musk is bi-polar and had a psychotic manic breakdown.
On Friday, CNN reported, “President Donald Trump has asked aides and advisers if they believe Elon Musk’s behavior over the past 48 hours could be related to his alleged drug use, privately seeking to understand the tech billionaire’s broadsides against him while signaling publicly he doesn’t care, a source familiar with the conversations told CNN.”
I’m amused that it’s only now occurring to Trump that Musk’s behavior is influenced by drug use. I thought everyone knew that.
He’s acting exactly like people I know who are either on crystal meth or too much speed of some kind. A manic break wouldn’t surprise me either but that’s often caused by speed
