What about a user who posts repeatedly that he goes out of his way to be as annoying as possible to teach others ‘a lesson’? Isn’t that pretty much a standard definition of trolling? here.

If you’d read the thread instead of just looking for reasons to get rid of a poster you hate, you’d also know that I said I’m not trying to be annoying here. You’d also note that I said it in the pit, the one place on the board where being annoying on purpose is allowed, as long as I believe what I’m saying.
The only time on this board I’ve ever intentionally been annoying is when people like you attack me in the Pit for no reason than your massive hate-on for me. I will intentionally push your buttons by saying things I know will bug you. Because, for some reason, actually explaining myself pisses you off more. So why not get some fun in while I’m annoying you?
Now, if you find my being matter-of-fact when responding to you to be annoying, or my returning tit for tat when someone breaks the rules of decorum but not the rules of the board, that’s kinda your problem.

My understanding differs–I thought he was unable to troll, regardless of forum and "intentionally pushing [people’s] buttons is pretty much the textbook definition of trolling.
I believe this is also the definition that TPTB use: having fun by intentionally pushing buttons is the key, not being insincere.
Presicely–I remember someone (Tomndebb, maybe? I’m pretty sure it was GD, pre Marley) saying that it was pretty hard to judge sincerity, but fairly easy to tell if someone was pushing buttons.
Of course when the person comes right out and brags how he’s trolling…that’s a whole other matter.
There’s a whole mess of 'em in that Pit threat about not changing seats in a theater. Bob Ducca even specifically said they’re poking the OP with a stick because there’s nothing better to do.

My understanding of the rules is that you can’t troll in the pit, or anywhere else. The Pit is for flaming other posters or venting, not outright admitting that you’re trolling. (And for some weird-ass reason, he keeps bragging about it)
