I’m sure correlation does not equal causation.

I don’t know. My simply being in the same room with a women causes a strong reaction; of course the reaction is usually convulsive disgust, but perhaps pregnancy is a side-effect. I am, after all, a very manly man, with testosterone virtually seeping from every pore.

*Cleaning *(wiping down surfaces, vacuuming up Cheerios) before the cleaning people get there makes no sense. Organizing and putting away your stuff does. Basically, if you’ve got 23 books on your coffee table, she’s got to either not touch them, which means your table isn’t going to get cleaned, or she’s got to move them, which means they won’t be in the same places when she’s done. One book is easy to remove, clean under and replace. But the sheer volume of Stuff most “I don’t clean” people have laying around *does *make it harder for the crew to do a good job *and *not piss you off by moving your stuff around.

I don’t become upset by the cleaning lady moving my stuff; I expect her to move my stuff. I have many, many more books than 23, and she removes, dusts, and replaces each one. There have been books misplaced, but I deal with it; I’d much rather her misplace a few books than not dust the bookcases.

As far as making it more difficult for the cleaning person to do his or her job, that’s what paying them more is for. In my experience, cleaning people are usually not shy about asking for more money to perform additional services.
