Mad man moon by Genesis.
“Vapour Trail” by Ride.
From the subliminal “Nowhere,” the only other shoegaze album that approaches the brilliance of “Loveless.”
One of the best songs of the 90’s. There was a period where I listened to it every night before I went to bed, I’ll never tire of this song.
Beethoven’s 9th symphony
Belle and Sebastian, “Lazy Line Painter Jane”.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” theme song.
“Yes Anastasia” by Tori Amos
I couldn’t pick one song. No matter what I’d select, I’d end up getting tired of it.
Damn, I remember when Led Zepplin’s “zoso” album first came out and everyone went nuts for “Stairway to Heaven.” It was everyone’s favorite song and went into eternal heavy rotation at rock stations all over the radio (and is still in rotation on so-called “classic rock” stations.)
And now, even though many Led Zep songs are still favorites of mine… I can’t stand “Stairway to Heaven”!!
So I’ll pass.
Clair de Lune
I’m thinking it would have to be fairly long, probably instrumental, quite varied, and something without a repetitive theme like Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. That would get really old really fast.
Is that like John Cage’s 4’33"?
“Dare to be Stupid,” by ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic.
An apt description for someone who only hears one song for the rest of his/her life…
Pink Floyd’s Us and Them.
Booyah.
"Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead
My first impulse was to go with something like Macca’s “Band on the Run,” just because it’s long and meanders all over the place.
On second thought, though, you really have to go with something you love.
“Yacht Dance” by XTC.
It’s the radio edit. I prefer it over the album version.
“All I want is you” by U2
This is a great question. Probably Hanson - Mmmbop. And yes, I’m serious.
However, I’d also have to give serious consideration to Night Ranger - Sister Christian.
“Don’t Give Up” by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
I’d get to hear my 2 favorite singers in the universe, and an uplifting message for those times I’d want to slit my wrists.
I could do with any of these:
“Nata Di Marzo” Pizzicato Five
“Low Boob Oscillator” Stereolab
“If I Were A Bell” Miles Davis Quintet
First Movement of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Kreisler cadenza.
