What are the songs you have heard enough times for one lifetime? They aren’t necessarily bad, just that you’ve heard them sooo many times that you just aren’t getting any pleasure from hearing them again - or maybe you never got any pleasure from them in the first place.
Some on my list, off the top of my head:
Down Under, Men at Work
I Will Always Love You, Whitney Houston
Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana
Love Shack, B52s
I know I’ve got more but I just can’t think of them right now…
Free Bird
Anything by Kenny Rogers
Anything by the Steve Miller Band after Boz Scaggs left the group.
Anything by Boz Scaggs Do You Think That I’m Sexy
Seconded. And thirded. And fourthed for good measure. The “lite” radio station at the place I worked when that song was popular had the same song list every day, and that one played three times per day. Never blended in as background noise like all the rest… always stood out and made my skin crawl.
Another one I got real sick of real fast, and could live happily never hearing again, is The Proclaimers’ “500 Miles”.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Good song, but I have a 13-year-old son who is very in to Green Day, so I hear that song about 18 times a day. I have it memorized. If I ever want to hear it again, I can just access the part of my brain that holds song lyrics.
