check out The Lies of Locke Lamora
I just finished it, and really liked it. Clever and well written.
As a teen I loved the Lankhmar books, and this gave me the same feel.
I read a review, sounds like my kind of book (and I’ve been in a drought trying finding new stuff to read) 
I read it when it first came out. I liked it enough to read the next one, but was disappointed with the ending.
